The invention provides a hermetic compressor that can reduce over-compression loss. The hermetic compressor comprises an overflow device (15), and the overflow device (15) switches on/off an overflow channel (26) by communicating a compression chamber with a spray pressure chamber, wherein the overflow device (15) comprises a valve core (15d) that is set by switching on/off the overflow channel (26); a force-application member (15e) that applies force to the valve core (15d) by switching off the overflow channel (26); a limit member (25) that has the force-application member (15e) thereon; and a retainer (16) that retains the limit member (25) in the overflow channel (26). The limit member (25) comprises a plurality of protrusions (25b) that protrudes radially from a central part to the inner wall of the overflow channel (26); and a refrigerant passage (15g) is formed among the protrusions (25b).
