N-(2-fluoro-4-halo-5-substituted phenyl)hydantoins of the formula:
wherein X is a chlorine atom or a bromine atom and R' and R 2 are, same or different, each a C 1 -C 4 alkyl group, a cyclopropyl group, a C 3 -C 4 alkenyl group of a C 3 -C 4 alkynyl group are disclosed, which are useful as herbicides.
