A facsimile machine which transmits and receives picture data comprises a first memory means (27a) for storing one or more pages of picture data, a second memory means (27b, 27c) for storing external device numbers and time data, and automatic transmission control means (28a) which compares time data stored in the second memory means with a time-count signal generated from a time-count means, and when the time data coincides with the time-count signal, it supplies an external device number stored in the second means and uses an automatic dialing means (25a) to connect a channel (25) to the corresponding external device, and then transmits and receives picture data to and from the external device (Fig. 3), thereby enabling the user of the facsimile machine to set and alter destinations, repeat addresses, and equivalent addresses, which is useful for transmitting data automatically at desired times.
