A process and an arrangement forthe recovery of a compound, for example a peptide-containing compound, from a solution through combined affinity-chromatographic purification and ultrafiltration. The process comprises the bringing into contact of the said compound in solution with a ligand bound to a carrier capable of reacting with the peptide-containing compound so as to form a complex and subsequently the splitting off and separating of the peptide-containing compound from the complex formed. As a carrier a macromolecular solid material is used, preferably in the form of particles larger than 0.1 µm which are selected among cells, agarose, starch, cellulose, chitin, gelatine, collagen and synthetic polymers of the latex and acrylic derivatives type, as well as inorganic material, for example ceramic material, porous siliceous material etc. The peptide-containing compound is separated by using a membrane filter (2) comprising a semipermeable membrane (13) with a cut-off between 50 000 and 100 x 10 .
