Stabilizers for synthetic polymer compositions are provided which are hydrocarbyl(polyphenol)-poly (2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidyl- 1,3,5-triazines) having the formula:
in which:
R is a hydrocarbyl group having the valence n; R, is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen; alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl and alkoxy having from one to about twelve carbon atoms; acyl having from about one to about twelve carbon atoms; and oxyl; Y is selected from the group consisting of
wherein R 4 is lower alkyl having from one to about six carbon atoms; R 5 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen; alkyl, hydroxy alkyl and alkoxy having from one to about twelve carbon atoms; and cycloalkyl having from three to about twelve carbon atoms; and
X is selected from the group consisting of wherein: R 6 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl, hydroxyalkyl and alkylenealkoxy having from one to about twelve carbon atoms; cycloalkyl having from three to about twelve carbon atoms; and aryl having from six to about eighteen carbon atoms; R 7 and R 8 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen; alkyl havipg from one to about twelve carbon atoms; cycloalkyl having from three to about twelve carbon atoms; and aryl having from six to about eighteen carbon atoms; and R 7 and R 6 taken together as a live to six member ring including the nitrogen atom in the ring; R 2 and R 3 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and lower alkyl having from one to about six carbon atoms; and n is a number from 2 to 4.

X is selected from the group consisting of wherein: R 6 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl, hydroxyalkyl and alkylenealkoxy having from one to about twelve carbon atoms; cycloalkyl having from three to about twelve carbon atoms; and aryl having from six to about eighteen carbon atoms; R 7 and R 8 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen; alkyl havipg from one to about twelve carbon atoms; cycloalkyl having from three to about twelve carbon atoms; and aryl having from six to about eighteen carbon atoms; and R 7 and R 6 taken together as a live to six member ring including the nitrogen atom in the ring; R 2 and R 3 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and lower alkyl having from one to about six carbon atoms; and n is a number from 2 to 4.
