An electrical motor system in which a microcomputer (11) controlled driver (39) monitors the real time operating parameters of the motor (1) to keep the real time operating parameters of the motor (1) in a range that is governed by limiting parameters, such as maximum temperature and maximum current, thereby allowing the microcomputer (11) to control the driver (39) in order to provide to the motor (1) optimum power on a moment to moment basis. In the illustrative embodiment, the driver (39) microcomputer (11), indexer (43), power supply (17) and encoder or resolver circuitry (21) are hybridized on at least one hybrid circuit, each circuit being attached to a heat sinking system (95), potted in a series of thermally conductive and EMI/RF insulating compounds, and are enclosed in a metallic enclosure (81) which is directly coupled to the back of the motor to form a compact, unitary device.
