A liquid composition, polymerisable by means of a free-radical route to yield optical articles endowed with a high refractive index, contains an allyl-carbonate derivative definable with the general formula:
(wherein R 1 , X 1 , X 2 , X 3 , X 4 , X 5 , X 6 , a and b are as defined in the disclosure) and a copolymerisable monomer containing at least one ethylenic unsaturation in its molecule.
