A piezoelectric transducer includes an elongated, spiral or meandering piezoelectric element (2) in the form of a coaxial cable, and an electrically insulating layer (6) surrounding the piezoelectric element (2). The element (2) has a core electrode (3), a piezoelectric layer (4) surrounding the core electrode (3), and an outer electrode layer (5) surrounding the piezoelectric layer (4).
