A favorably processable polyimide which has recurring structural units represented by the formula (I):
wherein R is a tetravalent radical having from 2 to 27 carbon atoms and selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic radical, alicyclic radical, monoaromatic radical, condensed polyaromatic radical and noncondensed aromatic radical connected each other with a direct bond or a bridge member, and is blocked at the polymer chain end with aromatic dicarboxylic anhydride represented by the formula (II):
wherein X is a divalent radical selected from the group consisting of a monoaromatic radical having from 6 to 27 carbon atoms, condensed polyaromatic radical and noncondensed aromatic radical connected each other with a direct bond or a bridge member, is disclosed.
