A recording medium on which a digital information signal is to be recorded in the form of blocks, each block comprising an information portion consisting of a plurality of subblocks, and a header portion including a plurality of identification data blocks located preceding the information portion and respectively associated with the subblocks, and a system for playing the recording medium to reproduce recorded information therefrom, are disclosed.
