A dental articulator (210) having an upper support member (12) for supporting a dental cast and a lower support member (14) for supporting a second dental cast. A polycentric hinge joint is provided for simulating the temporomandibular joint of a patient. The polycentric hinge joint comprises a fossae block (48) secured to the upper support member (12) and a condyle member (18) secured to the lower support member (14) which engages a fossae recess (41) in the fossae block (48). A spring (62) is provided for securing the lower support member (14) to the upper support member (12) and simulating the muscles used for mastication. A pair of wires (122) are provided for simulating the ligaments of a patient. The upper end of each wire passes through an opening in the upper support member (12) and the lower end is secured to the lower support member (14). Removable, adjustable post assemblies (260) are provided so that the upper and lower support members (12, 14) may be accurately repositioned.
