A bioelectrical arrangement uses photosensitive biological material, such as rhodopsin. The biological material is embedded in a lyotropic liquid crystal, so that the photoelectric effect is obtained without requiring the application of any special measure from the outside. Another advantage consists in that the biological material used needs no longer be higly purified.
