The invention pertains to a synthetic mixture containing Z8-tetradecenyl acetate H3C-(CH2)4-CH = CH-(CH2)7-O-CO-CH3/'Z' (Ia) and E8-tetradecenyl acetate H3C-(CH2)4-CH = CH-(CH2)7-O-CO-CH3/'E' (Ib), a method of preparing this mixture, pesticides containing such a mixture for plant protection against pests of the order lepidoptera and a method of using it.
