A wiping material dispenser for wiping hands and automatically dispensing toilet paper, remarkable in that the protective housing (2) is provided with parallel flanges (2.1-2.2) perpendicular to the rear plane of the housing in a hand towel dispenser embodiment, or between a front flange and a rear wall in a toilet paper dispenser embodiment. The drum (4) and the pressure member (6) may be snap fitted, said flanges or rear walls being provided with tabs (2.4, 2.10) made flexible by preformed flexing slots (2.3.1, 1.2.11) in the flanges and/or rear wall of the dispenser, said tabs having recesses (2.5, 2.14) for receiving the pressure member, while the flanges and/or the rear wall of the housing and the front flange also have notches (7.1, 2.6) for locating the drum rod ends. The various recesses for the ends of the drum pressure member rods face one another, the pressure member receiving tabs resiliently hold said pressure member against the drum and automatically lock it in position within the dispenser housing, and the drum and pressure member positioning areas are freely accessible through apertures at the front of said tabs and flanges so that the components of the dispenser may be assembled quickly.
