In a process for separating out valuable materials that can be reclaimed from shredded auto scrap and/or scrap electronics goods, in the form of long, thin metal pieces (2) such as wires, pins and the like, especially in a screening fraction above 10 mm, possibly in the form of twists (clews), the mixture of solids is loaded onto an endlessly circulating conveyor belt (10) equipped with bristles (9) (brisle belt) and the reclaimable material (2) is segmented in the bristle belt (10) by opening out and then closing the bristle structure (8) and is unloaded at a delivery point (18) by once again opening up the bristle belt (10) and releasing the material (2). For this purpose a separation plant has a bristle belt (10) with at least three deflections (12, 13, 14), of which the third deflection (14) in the direction of transport is situated below the second deflection (13).
