Pipes for the brake, fuel supply or hydraulic system of a motor vehicle have an inner steel tube (1) with an outer zinc coat (3) covered by an outer olive-coloured chromated layer (5) wrapped in a plastic enveloping layer (7) formed by extruding a polyamide on the olive-coloured chromated layer (7). Also disclosed is a process for producing such pipes.
