The cylindrical wall has at least one distal indentation (5, 6) that forms a front cutting edge (7, 8) at the ring-shaped base (4). Also disclosed is a boring instrument with a stepped drill having a distal section with a diameter between 'd' and 'd+2e' and a proximal section with a diameter of at least 'd+2e' but smaller than the outer diameter of the thread (11) of the dental implant.
