An injection stretch blow molding apparatus has an injection molding station (12) and a blow molding station (14), with a transfer station (16) positioned therebetween. The injection molding station (12) has an injection molding section (22) which molds preforms (28) and a removal section (24) which removes the preforms (28) from an injection core mold. The blow molding station (14) carries out circulating transfer of carrying members (36) which support the preforms (28), and in the blow molding section (44) the preforms (28) are blow-molded into containers (38). The transfer station (16) has a receiving mechanism 54 which receives preforms (28) removed from the injection core mold in the injection molding station (12) in the upright state, an inverting receiving mechanism (58) which inverts the preforms (28) and passes them in the inverted state to carrying members (36), and between the receiving mechanism (54) and the inverting receiving mechanism (58), a movement mechanism (56) transferring the preforms (28) from the receiving mechanism (54) to the inverting receiving mechanism (58).
