The invention pertains to a drive system, particularly for a motor vehicle, with a multicylinder internal combustion engine, a device for switching off at least some of the cylinders of the internal combustion engine, and a device, particularly one acting on a shaft, for instance a drive shaft of the internal combustion engine or a shaft coupled or coupleable thereto, that is used for active reduction of rotational irregularities and is active at least when the engine is operating with switched-off cylinders, at least under certain operating conditions. The invention is also directed to a process for operating such a drive system.
