The invention relates to a chain link (2) for a power transmission chain (1) serving to accommodate cables, hoses and the like, with elongated side walls (3) and transverse bridges (4) connecting said side walls. Each side wall has sliding surfaces (7) to allow mobile connection to a side part of a neighbouring chain link. The respective sliding surfaces (7) of adjacent chain links (2) are made from different materials; at least some of the sliding surfaces (7) are made in such a way that an additional element (5; 6) is joined to at least one side wall (3) before the chain (1) is assembled, the additional element being made from a different material from that of the side wall. Fitting the additional element to a chain link before, rather than during, assembly of the chain simplifies assembly of the chain links and facilitates automated assembly procedures.
