The invention relates to a gear pump with internal rotor designed to deliver fluids, preferably oil for gear systems, pumps or internal combustion engines. On the side opposite the reniform suction and pressure elements used to feed in and draw off the fluid to be delivered, the pump has extensions of said elements, with which the inlet and outlet channels for the fluid communicate only indirectly via the gaps between the teeth of the internal-rotor gear and via the reniform suction and pressure elements. The extension of the reniform pressure element is shorter in relation to the extension of the reniform suction element. According to an additional version of the invention, the gear pump has only an extension of the reniform pressure element but no extension of the reniform suction element. The design of the invention makes it possible to lower the cavitation, pressure pulsation and adsorbed power of the pump.
