A method and machine for packing a product (5) - in the example shown, a group of cigarettes - in a blank (3) of packing material, whereby the blank (3) is fed to a first seat (10) on a packing conveyor (7), the product (5) is fed to a second seat (11) on the same packing conveyor (7), and a relative movement is imparted to the two seats (10, 11) to form, in one of the two seats (10, 11), a blank-product assembly (48).
