Device for loading spools (1) onto support plates (15), which are provided with a rod (40) and centring and restraining springs (41), in order to send the said spools for winding, comprising a device (21) for presentation and centring of the spool (1) on the support (15), in order to fit the tube of the spool (1) onto the top of the rod (40), and a spool-fitting device (28), which can travel a path which corresponds to fitting of the spool, as far as its base stop (42) on the support plate (15).
