The invention relates to an easy and affordable method for precompressing flat glass panes in which a high temperature homogeneity is guaranteed in the glass. At least one flat glass pane which is situated on at least one ceramic plate is subjected to a thermal treatment ranging from 300 °C to 900 °C in radiation furnace. Said ceramic plate comprises a caloric conductibility which is at least 5 times greater in the range of the thermal treatment temperature than that of the glass pane which is to be treated. Such ceramic plates with a certain thickness can be used such that the relationship of the entire thickness of the ceramic plates to the glass staple height amounts to at least 1/μ . 40 W/mK, whereby μ represents the caloric conductibility of the ceramic material in the range of the thermal treatment temperature.
