A latch has a housing (30) for mounting in a door (D), panel, or the like and a moveable pawl (70) which engages a frame (F), panel or the like in a fastened position. The latch is provided with a substantially resilient member (110) in the form of a seal, which is adapted to be compressed when the pawl is in the fastened position for inhibiting the passage of matter.
