The invention concerns a method for cutting a cutting and a method for rooting a cutting. In addition, the invention concerns apparatuses for use in the methods. Cutting of the cutting takes place by placing a stalk from an existing, already grown plant in a station in e.g. a round table and then move the station in the round table past knives so that the parts of the stalk situated outside the station are cut off. Rooting the cutting occurs by moving the station over e.g. a pot with soil and thereafter to displace a drift downward against the cutting for pressing the cutting out of the station and down into the soil in the pot.
