The invention relates to an infrared thermometer with a heatable measuring tip, especially a fever thermometer for measuring temperature in the ear, and a heatable protective cap. Said measuring tip has a radiation input area at its front end, where a heating element is also situated. The heating element is either connected to a protective cap that can be slid onto the measuring tip or fixed on the front end of the measuring tip.
