Apparatus (10) and methods are disclosed wherein at least a first additive is added to a flowing dough, there being provided a die dividing member (47) in the flowing dough to impart at least one dough interstitial gap, and means (48) for injecting the additive at a downstream fade of the die dividing member (47) into the interstitial gap, wherein a notch (57) is formed on the die dividing member (47) extending from the downstream face towards but spaced from an upstream face of the die dividing member (47) having an axial length sufficient for the dough to flow into and fill the interstitial gap within the notch (57).
