The invention relates to a sensor assembly and a sensor for such an assembly used in vehicles, especially motor vehicles. The aim of the invention is to provide a concept which is suited for different types of sensors and with which modular sensor assemblies are constructed whose basic system is suited for all sensors. To these ends, a first housing (1) is provided for accommodating at least one converter element, and a second housing (2) is provided for accommodating a signal processing unit. In addition, an at least four-terminal connection (3) is provided between said first and second housing, and a terminal connection (4, 5) of the second housing (2) is provided for a control unit.
