A control method for an electromagnetic actuator (1) for the control of an engine valve (2) in which at least one electromagnet (8) displaces an actuator body (4) under the action of the force of magnetic attraction generated by the electromagnet (8), the electrical supply (i, v) of the electromagnet (8) being controlled as a function of an objective value (ϕ c ) of the magnetic flux (ϕ) circulating in the magnetic circuit (18) formed by the electromagnet (8) and the actuator body (4).
