An order that is submitted and for which personal data are taken from the user (B) and for which the user (B) is authenticated is stored in a corresponding certification unit (Z) and a secret PIN that is allocated to the order and which is otherwise only known to the certification unit (Z) is transmitted to the user (B). A certificate or a reference to a certificate for storing is transmitted to a certificate support device (7), which is determined by a certificate support identification, when the certificate PIN and the data for determining the order are transmitted to the certification unit (Z).
