The invention relates to a method for producing eyeglasses having individual progressive eyeglass lenses involving the following steps: Selecting an eyeglass frame; measuring the shape of the lens rings in the x and y directions with a precision better than ?0.5 mm (data set 1); measuring the points of emergence of the visual rays through the plane of the lens rings for at least two provided distances of the progressive eyeglass lenses with a precision better than ?1 mm (data set 2); selecting and positioning, with regard to the lens rings, a spherical or aspherical surface with regard to the prescription data and using data sets 1 and 2 (data set 3); calculating and positioning the progressive surface in relation to the selected surface while minimizing the critical thickness of the eyeglass lens and using data sets 1 to 3 (data set 4); finishing the progressive surfaces and edging the eyeglass lenses from a non-edged semi-finished product, which is finished on one side, using data sets 1 to 4.
