The invention relates to a method for improving the control behavior and the stability under a thermal load of an automotive control system with brake intervention, such as ASR, BTCS or BASR, ESP etc. The aim of the invention is to reduce the thermal stress on the brake system in a control system without engine interface. To this end, some of the control functions that may involve critical thermal loads on the brake system are at least intermittently stopped or admitted only to a limited extent in certain control situations.
