The invention relates to an immersion casting pipe for introducing steel melt from a casting container into a mould consisting of broadside walls and narrowside walls or into a two-roller casting machine, especially in order to produce flat products, provided with a pipe element which can be connected to the casting container and whose cross-section has an enlarged width in the direction of the narrow sides of the mould or in the direction of the narrow-side seal of the casting rollers and which is provided with outlets for the melt on the lower end. The casting pipe (1) consists of an upper section (2) having a circular cross-section on the inlet-side, a center section (3) so configured as to dispose the flow cross-section (5) in the direction of the width, in addition to consisting of a lower section (4). The distance (A1) of the inner walls of the lower section (4) is greater on the inlet side than the distance (A2) of the inner walls of the center section on the inlet side. In the lower section (4), the width (B1) increases, the distance (A3) of the inner walls (10, 11) being the same, to form a flat cross-section, such as a bifurcated pipe (13), in the direction of the outlet.
