The system further comprises a patient support member (13), a first displacement device (31) for displacing the patient support member relative to the frame in a first horizontal direction (X) into and out of the examination volume, and a second displacement device (33) for displacing the patient support member relative to the frame in a second horizontal direction (Y) transverse to the first horizontal direction. The patient support member is provided on a mobile carrier (15) which comprises a first docking member (19) by means of which the mobile carrier can be docked to a second docking member (21) provided on the frame. According to the invention, the second displacement device (33) is provided on the frame (1) for displacing the second docking member (21) relative to the frame in the second horizontal direction (Y).
