An adhesive (7) comprising a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a curing agent is applied to an adhesion surface (2A) of a character member (2). A transfer sheet (6) is bonded to the projection portion (2B) side of the character member (2), and a releasing sheet (8) is bonded to the adhesive (7) side, thus forming a character seal. When the character seal is bonded to the dial base (4), the releasing sheet (8) is peeled. The transfer sheet (6) is removed along with the excessive adhesive (7), and the adhesive (7) is cured by the curing agent. The adhesive (7) around the peripheral portion of the character member (2) is cured while maintaining its adhesive power, and hence no dust adheres, ensuring a favorable appearance.
