The invention relates to a windscreen wiper system comprising two opposed wipers (1, 2), each of which can be driven by means of a separate motor (M FS, M BS). A control unit (7) is provided in order to control the motors (M FS, M BS) independently of one another using control signals. According to the invention, the motors (M FS, M BS) of the wipers (1, 2) are controlled by the control unit (7) in order to define a temporally dependent angular position of the wipers in accordance with a trigonometric function φ(t).
