An adsorption filter material (I), preferably for the production of protective materials, preferably NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) suits, comprises: (a) a first layer; (b) an adsorption layer comprising a first activated carbon layer with particulate and/or spherical activated carbon with additionally activated carbon fibers and a second activated carbon layer comprising activated carbon fibers and; (c) a second layer. Independent claims are included for: (1) protective material, preferably suits, gloves and coverings comprising the filter material (I) and; (2) a process for improving the break-through properties of an adsorption filter material (I) by forming the adsorption layer (B) of a combination of particulate and fibrous particles or by having separate layer of particles and fibers.
