Method for monitoring a number of terminals (1, 2), particularly of parking meters, in which at least the first (1) and the second (2) adjacent terminals are equipped with means for communication which permits said first and second terminals to communicate with each other and with a monitoring centre (4), comprises a monitoring protocol in which the first and the second terminals must call each other. After a given period or in the case of no call or no reply from the second terminal (2), said first terminal (1) calls the monitoring centre (4) to inform of the abnormal situation concerning the second terminal (2).
