The invention relates to a device for preparing a reel of material (13), which is to be used during a flying reel change. Said reel of material is provided with labels (14, 16) fixing the beginning of the sheet to the reel of material, adhesive means (18) connecting the beginning of the sheet to a sheet of material running off the reel, and an inspection unit (08) checking the contours and/or positions of the labels and adhesive means on the peripheral surface of the reel of material.
