The invention concerns a method for regenerating a motor vehicle particle filter (26) which consists in using means for regenerating the filter when the load value exceeds a predetermined threshold. It further consists in calculating a parameter representing operating conditions of the regenerating means and in controlling the operating conditions of the regenerating means on the basis of said parameter.
