The present invention allows for effective sharing of the hardware memory (600) of a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU). The memory (606) will be shared among various buffers (615a-615n) of different entities. More particularly, memory (600) will be shared among the MAC reordering buffers (610a-610n) and the RLC reception. Buffers (615a-615m).
