A transportation system where a light-weighted small-sized vehicle can be used. The transportation system has rails extended between the stations, and has a vehicle capable of running on the rails and mounted with a driving apparatus. The system includes a first zone where the vehicle in a stop condition is accelerated to a predetermined speed by propulsion supplied to the vehicle from propulsion-supplying means provided over a predetermined distance from one station toward the other station, and a second zone, without the propulsion-supplying means, where the vehicle accelerated in the first zone runs by propulsion from the driving apparatus.
