The invention relates to the field of road construction, more precisely the laying of hot asphalt in order to create a road surface on a road foundation (4). To this end, the built-in plate of a road surface finisher is embodied in such a way as to increase the efficiency of the compaction of the asphalt. According to the invention, a compaction body (1) of the built-in plate is provided with a working surface (2) which extends at an angle of incidence (a) to the road foundation (4). The angle of incidence (a) is not larger than the friction angle (cp) of the asphalt to be compacted. Two alternatives are provided, whereby the working surface (2) of the compaction body (1) has different geometric forms, one embodiment of the working surface (2) being formed from two cylinder parts (6, 8), and the other (2) being embodied in a plane manner. In both cases, the compaction body (1) is connected to the body (7) of the built-in plate by means of articulations, said articulations being arranged in the region of the working surface (2) outside the region which comes into contact with the asphalt.
