The invention relates to a droplet separator unit for separating liquid particles from a gaseous stream for flue gas washers and similar installations, said unit comprising a droplet separator. The unit also comprises a device that is located and connected downstream of the droplet separator at a distance from the latter, said device extending over one section of the surface of the droplet separator and being used to reduce the flow speed of the gaseous stream in said surface section of the droplet separator. This permits the flow speed in the droplet separator to be homogenised, thus improving the performance of said separator.
