The invention relates to an upper mounting device (20) for connection of a suspension shock absorber (10) on a front wheel to the chassis (18) of a motor vehicle. The shock absorber (10) comprises a body (12), a shaft (14), moving by translation within said body and a spiral spring (16), mounted concentrically around the shaft. The device comprises a single cup (22) fixed to the free end (15) of the shaft with the concave side thereof facing the edge of said end, an elastomeric mass (24) with a support (26) and means for connection (28) of the spring (16) to said elastomeric mass (24). The elastomeric mass (24) is fixed to said cup (22) and to the vehicle chassis (18) such as to guarantee the damping of the vehicle movements essentially in the axis of the shaft (23).
