The invention relates to an epichlorohydrin amine polymer in which the ratio of amine units to epichlorohydrin units ranges between 0.8:1.2 and 1.0:1.0, dimethylaminopropylamine and benzylamine being preferably used as amine units and/or ammonium units. The inventive epichlorohydrin amine polymer is used for treating the surface of semifinished leather products and textile materials, for example.
