A desired communication resource at which a data flow of a communication service is to be effectuated is indicated upon a reverse link based on at least one upper-layer application associated with a respective at least one data flow. At least one intermediate layer message is used for the indication of the desired communication resource by means of reverse link scheduling information associated with the at least one data flow. A network device can detect the at least one intermediate layer message with the indication of the desired communication resource, and schedule communication resources to permit the effectuation of the communication service upon the reverse link channel based on the indication.
