The invention relates to a method for separating solids (23; 123) out of a suspension (22; 122), which contains the solids (23; 123) and suspension liquid (32; 132), in a continuously and quasi-continuously operating filtering device (10; 110) while using a filtering means (26; 126), on whose one side, i.e. the high-pressure side (30; 130), a higher pressure prevails than that on the other side, i.e. the low-pressure side (42; 142), and which pass, in succession in a working direction (U), through a number of working areas (I-V; I-IV) of the filtering device (10; 110). The suspension (22; 122) is fed to the filtering means (26; 126) in a first working area (I) on the high-pressure side (30; 130) thereof and filtered. The suspension liquid (22; 122) flows through the filtering means (26; 126) due to the pressure difference between the high-pressure side (30; 130) and the low-pressure side (42; 142), whereas at least a portion of the solids (23; 123) is deposited on the filtering means (26; 126). According to the invention, the solids (23; 123) deposited on the filtering means (26; 126) are resuspended in a washing liquid (50; 150), and the new suspension (resuspension) (53; 153) thus formed is filtered again in a second working area (11) of the filtering device (10; 110) located downstream from the first working area (I) in the working direction (U).
