The invention relates to a device for the production of flat glass by the float method with a float chamber and several serially-arranged gap seals, whereby the last gap seal in the direction of travel of the strip, arranged at the glass outlet end, is separated from the ambient atmosphere by the atmosphere in the float chamber and is provided on the gas exit side with a convex surface (7), by means of which the gas flow (8) exiting from the seal gap is deflected from the surface of the glass strip by the Coanda effect.
